MEDIUM-SCALE project - Lodge Park

Creating a flexible shared environment away from school grounds, in which to explore the cooperative and interdependent nature of spaces for personalised learning

Lodge Park Technology College is a larger than average 11-19 comprehensive school serving the town of Corby and its surrounding villages. It has 1300 students and was one of the schools in the first wave of specialist schools announced by the DfES as a Technology College.

Lodge Park believe that the key to a good education is in the students feeling safe, happy and challenged to achieve their true potential and pastoral care is delivered through a vertical House system. Learning and teaching will be organised around a Faculty structure which will be introduced in September 2010.

In seeking to improve their student's learning environment, the school wishes to develop best practice for learning spaces using an offsite location.

The "Learning Cube" is a large warehouse space approximately 1 mile from Lodge Park which could provide the school with the opportunity to experiment with space to develop effective student learning environments.
